Effects of Deposited Charge on Impulse Test Techniques for Polymer Insulators
نویسندگان
چکیده
The application of lightning impulses to polymer insulation, including composite insulators, can result in the deposition and retention of significant quantities of charge on the surfaces. This is very evident after withstand impulses near U50. The presence of retained charge means that the polymer test object has a memory of preceding impulses and this compromises the main requirement for determining statistical impulse strength – that each impulse application is a statistically independent test. This means that impulse testing techniques for polymer insulation may need further consideration to account for charge effects.

Effects of RTV coating on the electrical performance of polymer insulator under lightning impulse voltage condition
Located near the equator, Malaysia is a country with one of the highest lightning densities in the world. Lightning contributes to 70% of the power outages in Malaysia and affects power equipment, automated network systems, causes data losses and monetary losses in the nation. Therefore, consideration of insulator evaluation under lightning impulses can be crucial to evaluate and attempt to ove...

متن کاملCharge Storage, Conductivity and Charge Profiles of Insulators As Related to Spacecraft Charging
Dissipation of charges built up near the surface of insulators due to space environment interaction is central to understanding spacecraft charging. Conductivity of insulating materials is key to determine how accumulated charge will distribute across the spacecraft and how rapidly charge imbalance will dissipate. To understand these processes requires knowledge of how charge is deposited withi...
متن کاملDiscrimination of Golab apple storage time using acoustic impulse response and LDA and QDA discriminant analysis techniques
ABSTRACT- Firmness is one of the most important quality indicators for apple fruits, which is highly correlated with the storage time. The acoustic impulse response technique is one of the most commonly used nondestructive detection methods for evaluating apple firmness. This paper presents a non-destructive method for classification of Iranian apple (Malus domestica Borkh. cv. Golab) according...
